From the Founders
The beginning
Over the past several months, we’ve spent a great deal of time talking with friends, colleagues, entrepreneurs, executives, creatives, and people we admire.
While their industries, backgrounds, and experiences may differ, a common theme continues to emerge: people are busy. Not just professionally busy, but mentally busy. Calendars are full, responsibilities are growing, and the demands on our attention seem endless.
Yet despite being more connected than ever, many of us struggle to find space for meaningful conversations, fresh perspectives, and genuine reflection.
That realization became one of the catalysts for Mutiny Retreats.
When we first began exploring this idea, we assumed the appeal might be the destination itself. Valle de Guadalupe certainly offers extraordinary food, wine, landscapes, and culture. But the more conversations we had, the more we realized the destination is only part of the story.
What many people are actually seeking is something much simpler.
A chance to step outside their routines.
An opportunity to spend time with thoughtful people who challenge their assumptions and broaden their perspectives.
Space to think differently.
The concept of “mutiny” grew from that idea. Not rebellion against others, but a deliberate rebellion against the habits, pressures, and expectations that quietly consume so much of our attention. A temporary departure from the familiar. A chance to create enough distance that new ideas, new connections, and new possibilities can emerge.
As we’ve tested this concept through conversations and small gatherings, we’ve learned something encouraging: people don’t need more complexity. They don’t need packed itineraries or endless programming. What they value most is thoughtful curation—interesting people, meaningful experiences, engaging conversations, and enough structure to create momentum without eliminating freedom.
That’s what we’re building.
Our goal isn’t simply to bring people to Baja. It’s to create environments where curiosity, creativity, connection, and perspective can flourish.
We’re grateful to everyone who has shared ideas, feedback, encouragement, and honest questions along the way. This journey is just beginning, and we’re excited to continue it together.
